Start with the certificate issuer
Locate the test receipt, centre name and reference. Check the email address used at inspection and look for the electronic certificate. RTA’s service steps include confirming an email address for delivery.
If no certificate arrives, contact the centre that performed the inspection. Explain when and where the test happened and which record you expected. Do not publish your vehicle identifiers in a public review or send them to this guide.
Match the vehicle and purpose
Check the plate source and vehicle details on the certificate. Confirm that the test purpose matches the application you are attempting: renewal, registration, export or another service.
Ask the issuer to investigate an incorrect record. Only the issuing centre or relevant authority can confirm whether a correction, resubmission or another test is required.
Check validity and acceptance
RTA describes its vehicle technical inspection certificate as valid for 30 days. Do not carry that number over to a different operator’s retest entitlement or another authority’s acceptance conditions.
If testing and registration occur in different emirates, ask the receiving authority to confirm that this specific report is accepted and visible in its system.
Keep a clear record of the enquiry
Save the test reference, the response from the issuer and any authority support reference. Ask what action is required before paying for a second test.
Once the result is recognised, finish the registration transaction and check the new vehicle licence. A recognised test result alone is not completion of renewal.
Triage the message before you spend again
| Symptom | First check | Contact |
|---|---|---|
| No certificate email | Email address, spam folder and test/payment reference | Issuing inspection centre. |
| Certificate has wrong vehicle details | Plate source and chassis identifier against the record | Issuer for correction; do not edit the PDF yourself. |
| Passed result not recognised | Test purpose, validity and electronic transmission | Issuer first, then receiving authority. |
| Payment taken but no renewed licence | Was this inspection payment or renewal payment? | The authority that processed renewal. |
| Insurance rather than inspection is rejected | Effective date and electronic policy record | Insurer. A second vehicle test will not fix insurance. |
Missing Dubai licence after completed renewal
RTA points customers to its Document Validation service to retrieve an Ownership e-Card. Select the Vehicle Licence product and enter the details only on that official service. For a contact-data issue, RTA publishes 8009090. This retrieves the licence after renewal; it is not a replacement for an inspection result.
What to include in a support enquiry
Have the branch name, visit date, test reference, payment reference and the exact error message ready. Supply vehicle identifiers only through the official support channel when requested. Keep the reply or ticket number.
Ask whether the issue requires a record correction, electronic retransmission, a different inspection purpose or a genuinely new test. Get that distinction resolved before booking again.
Common questions
Does this site retrieve test certificates?
No. Contact the test issuer or authority using their official channels.
Should I immediately pay for another test?
First ask the issuer and authority to investigate the missing, mismatched or expired record.
