Published testing prices: compare like-for-like
| Authority / service | Published amount | Scope and additions |
|---|---|---|
| Dubai RTA — light vehicle test | AED 170 | AED 150 inspection + AED 20 Knowledge and Innovation. |
| Dubai RTA — light vehicle, light bus or motorcycle retest | AED 70 | AED 50 reinspection + AED 20 Knowledge and Innovation. |
| Dubai RTA — heavy vehicle/bus retest | AED 95 | AED 75 reinspection + AED 20 Knowledge and Innovation. |
| ADNOC — fresh inspection | AED 150 | Operator VIC fee; registration is separate. |
| ADNOC — first / second retest | AED 50 / free | Confirm original-report eligibility and return conditions. |
| ADNOC — comprehensive test | AED 350 | Condition test at specified centres, not routine renewal. |
| ADNOC — chassis measurement | AED 475 | Separate product; FAQ names Falaj Hazza. |
| Ajman — light vehicle or motorcycle | AED 150 | Official technical-inspection service tariff. |
| Ajman — heavy equipment or goods vehicle | AED 200 | Select the correct category with the centre. |
| Ajman — classic vehicle | AED 420 | Inspection charge; registration separate. |
| Shamil — Dubai first test / retest | AED 170 / AED 70 | Operator-published figures; consistent with RTA’s basic light-vehicle amounts. |
| Shamil — Northern Emirates first test | AED 150 | Operator page: retest free within 15 days, then AED 50; confirm entitlement. |
| Rafid — registration inspection | AED 150 | Operator FAQ. Its separate AED 545 registration-service figure excludes inspection and insurance; do not treat it as a government base renewal tariff. |
Amounts displayed by the linked public pages, checked 16 September 2026. They are not quotations for every vehicle or branch; no universal UAE total is implied.
RTA explicitly itemises Knowledge and Innovation. The ADNOC, Ajman, Shamil and Rafid pages reviewed do not clearly state VAT treatment for these amounts; do not silently add or assume VAT. Ask for the final itemised amount before paying.
Insurance, registration, delivery, repairs and optional collection/VIP services are separate. A retest concession depends on the original test and the operator’s conditions.
Compare the same service
A renewal inspection, a retest, a comprehensive condition report and the registration renewal are different charges. Ask for the exact test category and whether the quoted total includes all mandatory additions.
The centre you choose may also offer optional collection, express handling or other services. Keep these separate from the compulsory inspection charge when comparing options.
Published examples from official sources
Digital Ajman lists AED 150 for a light-vehicle technical inspection. ADNOC’s VIC page also lists AED 150 for a fresh test, AED 50 for a first retest and a free second retest. These figures refer to the described service, not the full registration-renewal bill.
RTA publishes vehicle-category fees and additional Knowledge and Innovation fees on its inspection page. Use that category selector to confirm the total for your vehicle. Its appointment campaign separately describes an AED 100 optional walk-in service at eligible centres.
Avoid a misleading total
Insurance is separate from the inspection. Registration charges, fines, late charges and delivery can also affect the final amount shown by the authority. A single “renewal cost” copied from another driver’s receipt may not apply to you.
Ask the centre to show a breakdown before adding optional services. Keep the official receipts so you can identify which part was a test, registration charge or convenience service.
When a number differs
Use the current official transaction quote for your vehicle. Tell the operator which public price you saw and ask what explains the difference: vehicle class, test purpose, tax, additional fees or an outdated page.
Fees on this page were reviewed on 16 September 2026. This static guide does not fetch transaction prices or guarantee that a public schedule remains unchanged.
Renewal charges are a second bill
RTA’s older public renewal schedule lists AED 350 for a light vehicle plus AED 20 Knowledge and Innovation. The replacement service page exposes a category selector rather than a readable full tariff. Treat AED 370 as an official published reference whose current checkout amount must be confirmed, not as a guaranteed current total.
MOI/TAMM charges must be checked for the actual vehicle and delivery choice. The publicly accessible MOI service card did not expose a readable current tariff in this review, so this guide does not transplant a Dubai amount to the other emirates. The MOI manual distinguishes electronic delivery from courier delivery.

Build the total without double-counting
| Cost component | Count it when | Avoid this mistake |
|---|---|---|
| Required test | Your vehicle needs that test | Adding both a renewal inspection and comprehensive test as though both were mandatory. |
| Retest | You failed and the return is chargeable | Assuming every second visit is free. |
| Registration renewal | You complete the authority transaction | Mistaking the inspection fee for the renewed Mulkiya. |
| Insurance | You arrange the required policy | Treating one driver’s premium as a government fee. |
| Delivery / optional services | You select the service | Charging courier delivery to an electronic-only card choice. |
Common questions
Is AED 150 the whole renewal cost?
No. Where published, that amount refers to a particular inspection. Insurance and registration-related costs are separate.
Why do two centres quote different amounts?
First check that both quotes cover the same vehicle class and test, and separate optional services and authority charges.
