Select the situation that matches your visit. This gives guidance, not a booking or an eligibility decision.
Start with the plate’s authority
Check whether inspection is required, arrange the accepted test and insurance, then complete renewal. A pass alone does not renew the registration.
Use the original failed-test report
Confirm the return deadline, eligible branch and retest charge with the issuer. A workshop invoice is evidence of repairs, not a pass certificate.
Ask for a condition or pre-purchase inspection
Agree the report’s scope before paying. Comprehensive testing is different from the inspection accepted for registration or transfer.
Check the transaction and report acceptance
Tell the centre the plate source, category and purpose. Confirm the receiving authority can use the report before you travel.
Investigate the record before paying again
Compare vehicle details and test purpose, then ask the issuer about electronic transmission. An insurance error needs the insurer, not another test.
For a sale, import, export, modified vehicle or change of ownership, open the exact authority service. A routine-renewal checklist cannot decide those cases.
Start with the registration record
Check which emirate issued the registration and whether you are renewing the same ownership. A transfer, an imported vehicle and a routine renewal are different applications. The place where you live or get the vehicle inspected does not automatically change the licensing authority.
Use the vehicle licence to confirm the expiry date. Open the appropriate authority’s service before paying for a test: the vehicle category and any exemption determine the next step.
Prepare the prerequisites
Arrange the required vehicle inspection and insurance, and resolve fines or other conditions shown in the official application. The UAE Government describes these as separate requirements before the registration is issued.
Ask the centre to select the correct inspection purpose and plate source. Keep the inspection certificate and payment receipt. A successful test alone does not renew the Mulkiya.
Complete the renewal through the right channel
For Dubai, use RTA’s Renew and Amend Vehicle Data Ownership service. RTA checks the recorded insurance and inspection, then shows the applicable fees and certificate or delivery options. Select the existing vehicle; do not start a new-registration request by mistake.
For Abu Dhabi, Abu Dhabi Mobility directs licensing customers to TAMM, using UAE Pass and an active traffic file. For the other emirates, follow the MOI or traffic-authority channel identified through the UAE Government registration page.
Check the result before you consider the task complete
Confirm the new expiry date on the issued vehicle licence and save the receipt. An inspection report, an insurance policy and an application-payment notice are not interchangeable with the renewed vehicle registration.
If the application still requests inspection, ask the issuing centre to check the plate source and certificate record, then contact the registration authority. Do not pay for a duplicate inspection until the missing record has been investigated.

The online hand-off after a pass
Use the plate’s issuing authority and select the existing vehicle. Compare its plate and chassis details with the inspection receipt. If the vehicle is missing from the account, resolve that record issue before starting a different transaction.
- Open the official renewal channel and sign in there. This guide never collects your UAE Pass, plate or identity details.
- Select renewal for the existing owner. A sale, plate replacement or change of vehicle data requires its own service.
- Review the recorded inspection and insurance. If either is missing, ask the issuer to update the electronic record.
- Inspect the itemised charge and delivery option before payment. Save the payment reference.
- Open the issued registration and check its new expiry date. A payment confirmation without a licence needs follow-up.

MOI card delivery: avoid paying for a method you do not need
The illustrated MOI manual offers an electronic card, self-service printing and courier delivery. Its electronic-card option has no delivery fee and does not send a physical card. For courier delivery, select the emirate and a saved address or add a new one before proceeding. The screens in that manual are an official example, not a live view of your account.
Three reasons a passed car still cannot renew

Common questions
Does passing the test renew my registration?
No. Complete the registration application, its requirements and payment, and check the issued vehicle licence.
Can I use the same process for a change of owner?
No. Select the ownership-transfer service; its evidence and inspection conditions can differ from renewal.
Can I renew very early and keep my original expiry anniversary?
RTA says an early renewal is calculated from the application date. Check the date presented before confirming; this Dubai rule is not an assurance for every authority.
